I am a newbie when it comes to the Whitby Goth Weekend. This was my second time there and its and incredible if not bizarre experience. It has such an eclectic mix of Goth, Edwardian, Steampunk, Trannies and all tastes in between. A very traditional Yorkshire town turned over in its entirety to a set of exhibitionists who just love to show off. It truly was a wonderful experience that I will be repeating later in the New Year…sorry the pic is not too good. This was the first time I tried Goth and it was just such a laugh going beyond our comfort zones. Big thanks to Susie, Danni, Miranda Debs and Nick for the fun
Originally the idea was to celebrate the writer Bram Stoker and the original 1897 epistolary novel Dracula, where the ship carrying Dracula runs aground at Whitby. But from there the event has grown to encompasss so many aspects of that lifestyle.
There are some great pics on Metro or on Huffington Post if you are interested in this style.
